The word theatre comes from the Greeks. It means the seeing place. It is the place people come to see the truth about life and the social situation. The theatre is a spiritual and social X-ray of its time. The theatre was created to tell people the truth about life and the social situation
As my training at Lesher Young Repertory comes to an end, I found myself reflecting on this poem. We experienced what the Greeks call theatre, “A place where people come to see the truth about life and the social situation.” As part of our training we interviewed family and friends about their experiences as they faced the Coronavirus. We took interviewees verbal/nonverbal responses and created our own monologues in which we acted out as them. In the end we created theatre as a spiritual and x-ray of our time. The theatre we created told the truth about life and the social situation.
I wanted to share two unedited monologues I filmed.
